BASISSCHOOL DE SCHAKEL RAISES OVER 1500 EURO FOR BIBLIONEF!

This spring Basisschool De Schakel approached us with an initiative as they chose Biblionef as a charity they wanted to support. Joeki van Etteger from Bilblionef provided a short guest lecture for all groups of the school to explain what we can do with their support and for whom. There was great enthusiasm among the children and reading Snuffie the Fire in the Afrikaans by a pupil and teacher of the group was very popular. Helene and Juliette gave the necessary information about how to fundraise.
May 24th was the big day for the charity. Hanneke Kramps and Mieke Jalink from Biblionef were present to meet all the children. The run was linked to the sports group of grades 1 to 4. What a beautiful day it was! The sun was shining and there was music playing on the sports fields to welcome everyone to hear. After having a cup of coffee and an opening dance where the whole school participated, everyone was ready for the charity fun to commence. The first group was grades 5-8 and then was grades 1 to 4. Some ran more laps than others but everyone did their best! Even the youngest children ran an extra round just before the final whistle. Huge thanks for all your tremendous efforts!
On June 7, the total amount raised was a great surprise to Hanneke and Kramps Joeki Etteger, the large sum of 3,000 euros each run. Half went to the private library of Switch and the other half by Biblionef used for transport of many wonderful books to children who have no access to books.
